Update on two topics

Through this news item we would like to thank the members who completed our survey. In addition, we will give you an update on two topics: acquisition of asset management activities and change of protocol agreement for sports subscription from the DI budget.

Acquisition of asset management activities

In the past period, we have been informed about the outsourcing of the asset management of the Blue Sky Group (BSG) to Achmea. BSG is the administrator of your pension scheme. Many members have asked questions about this. Therefore, a brief explanation.

It is not the case that Achmea will be the administrator of the KLM pension fund. That is and remains BSG. Only the asset management will be carried out by Achmea in the future. This decision was taken by BSG itself. BSG aims to further optimise the returns on capital and the costs of implementation. And that is good for all participants.

At the moment, we are also working the implementation plan of the agreements in the Transition Plan with regard to the new (WTP) Pension Scheme. We have informed you about this in previous newsletters. This process will also continue and we will of course keep you informed about further progress.

Change in the protocol agreement for sports subscriptions from the DI budget

During the last collective labor agreement negotiations, we made the following agreement: As of January 1, 2024, KLM will make it possible for employees to make the choice to have the accrued DI budget paid out on a monthly basis. When choosing advance payment, the employee no longer has to enter the choice for the future budget before a certain date, but makes the choice about the (part of the) budget already accrued in that calendar year. For the other choices for spending the DI budget, the current process will be maintained. In addition, as of July 1, 2024, it will be possible to pay for a sports subscription from the DI budget. This is subject to the condition that the final levy of 80% is also paid from the employee’s DI budget.

As an employee, you can now use the option to have the DI budget paid out. The agreement to offer the option of paying for your sports subscription from your DI budget as of 1 July 2024 has been cancelled in consultation with KLM and the employee organisation. This does not provide any benefit for a large group of employees. This is because the Tax and Customs Administration considers it a special salary, which can have a negative effect on employees with a special rate below 44.44%. A large proportion of the employees at KLM land are covered by this rate. It has therefore been jointly decided to cancel this agreement. This agreement has also been withdrawn for your colleagues who fall under the KLM Cabin Collective Labor Agreement.

Tip of the day: you can of course still have your budget paid out and use it to pay for your sports subscription.

Thank you

Many of your colleagues have completed our survey about what you think is important in the upcoming collective labor agreement negotiations. Thank you for this. In the coming weeks, we will quietly study the responses and make a new survey, in which we will go deeper into the topics you have indicated.
