Last week, we informed you about the negative advice of the Land Unions about imminent redundancy in the Land Domain due to KLM’s Back on Track program. KLM has responded quickly to this, and read KLM’s response here .
Disappointment
De Unie is disappointed in KLM’s response. Disappointed because KLM does not really address our arguments, but mainly keeps repeating the same general positions. In doing so, they completely ignore our advice and continue on the same path.
In their response, KLM continues to place the emphasis on cost control and much less on solving capacity problems. Without there being any real reason for it from an organizational point of view, jobs are now being forcibly cut in the Land Domain. We find this incomprehensible and unwise.
It is up to the Works Council
Now that the unions have given their advice, it is now up to the works council (OR) to respond. The Works Council has the task of assessing about 40 sub-requests for advice. Of course we will follow this with great interest.
Annex 15
In its advice on Back on Track, the Works Council recently indicated that Appendix 15 (the agreements in the event of redundancy in the collective labor agreement) is no longer workable due to changed laws and regulations. The Works Council has asked both the unions and KLM to update these agreements. Until then, the Works Council will not issue any advice. We agree with the Works Council. Together with KLM, we will do our best to arrive at a new Annex 15. The value of the current scheme remains the starting point for us. For us, modernization does not mean ‘austerity’.
No forced redundancies
In addition, we continue to insist on ‘no forced redundancies’ in the context of Back on Track. We are willing to make agreements about good mediation, voluntary departure, and so on, but that’s about it. KLM may be able to ignore our advice, but as far as we are concerned, we will not make any further concessions here.
Works Council elections and our candidates
The Works Council elections will start on 9 April! On the electoral lists you will find a number of strong candidates who have stood for election through De Unie. We wholeheartedly support these candidates and call on everyone to vote for them as much as possible.
More information about a number of candidates can be found here on our website. Meet them and cast your vote!
Sincerely,
Huug Brinkers
