KLM Ground: Last chance!

We have previously informed you that there is also a lot of dissatisfaction among our members about the lack of a new collective labor agreement for KLM’s Ground Staff. And of course we are also concerned about the future of KLM, but in addition to the necessary investments in the new fleet, KLM must also continue to invest in its own staff. We therefore do not agree with KLM’s approach of wanting to increase productivity and freeze wages. We also do not agree with the announced forced redundancies. It has now been a few weeks since collective bargaining came to a standstill. But of course we have not been idle. In this info another update.

A lot has happened

A lot has happened behind the scenes in recent weeks. Trade unions have informed and consulted their members. It is clear that KLM’s attitude cannot count on applause anywhere. A number of fellow unions have even decided to give KLM an ultimatum. This increases the threat of action.

Patience running out

As a result of our last poll, we have once again informed KLM that many members of De Unie also seem to have run out of patience. But there is also concern and nuance among a large group of members. This means that De Unie cannot formally support any actions at this time. However, we certainly do not rule out the possibility of doing so. For example, if the upcoming consultation yields nothing or insufficiently. We will also have to go through all the necessary statutory steps. Of course we will keep you informed.

Last attempt

In the meantime, we have received an invitation from KLM for renewed consultations on 12 and 13 June. Because taking action is really an ultimate remedy and in addition to anger among many of our members, there is also nuance, we want to give KLM a last chance.

Apart from all the details, we have again informed KLM that for a deal with De Unie the new collective labor agreement includes the following:

  • Preservation of purchasing power.
  • No forced redundancies BoT.
  • Modernisation of Annex 15 on the basis of current “value”.
  • Flex measures based on voluntary and “bonus”.
  • Discuss/adjust IPB.
  • Expand subsidized part-time and further develop new RVU.
  • Own appendix/collective labor agreement E&M/technicians (including own roster system and installation of AMT).

Participation in any promotions

Members who want to participate in promotions are always free to participate. After all, collective action is a fundamental right. Even if De Unie does not yet formally support these actions. You can then take a day off. But you can, just like the members of the other unions with their union, also register with us as a striker and thus claim a strike benefit (of course only if KLM decides to stop the payment of wages). Because there are no actions (in any form whatsoever) at the moment, we will come back to this later.

So much for this message.

Sincerely,
Huug Brinkers
