The subject of ‘IPB’ continues to occupy minds. We have already explained our position on this in an earlier member information “Information about Pension and IPB – KLM Grond”.

Contrary to what could be concluded from a recent message from a fellow union, there are currently no formal talks taking place with KLM about IPB. Such talks are not planned for the time being. This has been confirmed by KLM.

As much as we would like to enter into a conversation about the IPB scheme (it is not for nothing that we have put this subject on the agenda several times during collective labor agreement negotiations), we do not think it wise to consider ‘escalating actions’ now. This really does not bring a solution any closer, puts unnecessary pressure on the mutual relationships within the company and will again cause a lot of negative publicity. And we are not waiting for that. KLM is facing major financial and operational challenges. That is what the focus should be on now.

Of course, IPB will continue to have our attention and we still want to see – in close consultation and together with KLM and all fellow unions – how we could ‘modernise’ the scheme step by step in the coming period. There can be no misunderstanding about that.
